SAMVA Leadership & Governance

SAMVA is a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO) committed to transparent governance, ethical leadership, and stakeholder representation. Our mission is to promote inclusive volleyball for mature players while fostering community health and unity.

 

Structure

Board of Directors & Executive Committee

  • Provide oversight, strategic direction, and financial accountability
  • Responsible for policy, partnerships, and tournament continuity

Local Organizing Committee (LOC)

  • Event management, operations, and logistics for annual tournaments
  • Includes subcommittees: Registration, Competition, Sponsorship, Wellness, Media

Volunteer Network & Ambassadors

  • Regional and community-level liaisons, development, and outreach champions

Governance Principles

  • Annual reporting to NPO Registry
  • Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • Financial statements available on request
  • Rotating leadership opportunities
  • Adherence to adopted Code of Conduct across all roles

SAMVA CODE OF CONDUCT

“Ethics. Respect. Play with Purpose.”
This Code sets the standards of behaviour expected from all participants in SAMVA activities — players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and sponsors.

Core Principles

  • Promote respect for self, others, and the sport
  • Encourage safe, inclusive, and ethical play
  • Foster a positive atmosphere of camaraderie
  • Uphold the rules of the game and tournament protocols

1. Players & Team Officials

  • Respect referees, opponents, and teammates
  • Avoid verbal/physical abuse or unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Participate in all scheduled matches unless medically excused
  • Accept outcomes graciously and uphold tournament decisions

2. Organising Committee (LOC)

  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in decision-making
  • Attend all required planning sessions
  • Declare conflicts of interest
  • Ensure accessibility and fairness in tournament operations

3. Sponsors and Partners

  • Align all sponsorship messaging with SAMVA values
  • Avoid any activities that create conflict or harm community trust
  • Commit to promoting equity, dignity, and wellness through sport

Sanctions and Procedures
Any breach of the Code may result in:

  • Official warnings or match suspensions
  • Disqualification from competition
  • Exclusion from future events
  • Fines (e.g., for unplayed matches without cause)

All participants must digitally or physically sign the Code upon registration.
